Your hosts at Hotel
Tannahof in Au
Juliane and Guy Moosbrugger-Jourdain, with their family Estelle, Melanie and Nikolas, would like to welcome you to the Hotel Tannahof in Au.
A special location
Our house was once part of a farm but over the years things changed, and today the Tannahof is a small hotel enjoying a very special location at the foot of the Kanisfluh. Our guests have always appreciated its tranquillity, picturesque countryside and views of the mountains.
Distances:
- Walking and cross-country ski tracks on the doorstep
- 100 m to the Au-Schoppernau ski bus
- 4000m to the bottom station of the Diedamskopf lift
Our hotel
The Tannahof combines local tradition with contemporary flair.
The original building was a typical Wälder house with traditional rooms and parlour, which was subsequently linked to a modern extension. Although the rooms in the house are traditional and cosy, built from natural wood in the local Wälder style, they offer state-of-the-art facilities. The modern rooms in the extension feature balconies. The interior fixtures and fittings have been carried out exclusively by local craftsmen, true to the motto of Antoine de Saint-Exupery:
“Perfection is not attained when nothing more can be added, but rather when nothing more can be taken away.”
Our family and its history
- 1850
-
The Tanna (a place name), at that time an impenetrable jungle, was bought by J.Anton Ritter.
- 1852
-
A large barn and stables were built on the site.
- 1863
-
A residential building was added.
- 1878
-
A covered wooden bridge was built over the Bregenzerache (river) by the next owner J. Anton Jochum.
- 1939
-
My grandfather Franz Josef Moosbrugger purchased the “Tanna” and moved with his family from the Leue to the “Tanna” in Argenstein. At this time my father was 7 years old.
My grandfather died very young and, since two of my father’s brothers did not return home after the war, my father, Franz Moosbrugger, was obliged to take responsibility for the family farm from a very early age. Even then my father processed his own milk and cheese, and sold his milk products both in the local dairy in Tanna and at the milk stand next to the church in Au.
- 1970
-
Together with my mother, Katharina Moosbrugger, he converted the “Tanna” into tourist accommodation. My mother was an excellent cook, and really made a fuss of her guests.
- 1991
-
The business was handed over to Juliane and Guy Moosbrugger-Jourdain.
- 2016
-
The hotel was renovated and modified – the farm buildings and the restaurant were demolished.
The period May to December 2016 saw the construction of 4 new double rooms, 2 suites, 1 holiday apartment, a sauna and the pavilion. - 2022
-
During the period October to December 2022 the 7 rooms in the Wälder house were renovated.
