Winter activities
The Diedamskopf offers a great variety of winter activities; numerous winter walking tracks, cross-country ski circuits and downhill skiing await snow sports enthusiasts. In addition visitors can enjoy tobogganing, snow-shoe walking and admiring the scenery on a gentle horse-drawn sleigh ride.
Cross-country skiing
Au-Schoppernau offers 59 km of cross-country ski circuits, groomed daily, which rate among the finest in Vorarlberg. The Au circuit has a total length of 28 km and that in Schoppernau 31 km. This interconnected cross-country ski area offers a selection of double and multiple tracked circuits with a total length of approx. 59 km.
It is not actually proven that cross-country skiers have a longer life expectancy. It is however indisputable that endurance sports can promote a better quality of life and extend a higher standard of physical fitness into a ripe old age. Cross-country skiing is especially therapeutic for strengthening and improving heart and circulation, respiration, nervous system, hormonal balance, musculoskeletal system and balance. Since it can be adapted to match individual abilities cross-country skiing, if undertaken sensibly and within reasonable parameters, is a wonderful activity for people of all ages and levels of fitness. Quite apart from the physical health benefits, the psychological factor cannot be emphasised too strongly.
3 Valleys ski pass
For anyone looking for the ultimate in flexible skiing enjoyment, the 3 Valleys seasonal ski pass is the passport to Vorarlberg’s finest mountains and ski runs. Including 36 ski areas and an excursion railway, a total of 487 kilometres of ski runs awaits winter sports aficionados.
Winter walking
Enjoy some gentle walking on more than 40 km of prepared winter walking tracks, some of which run parallel to the cross-country circuits and away from the roads. Or wind down and recharge your batteries on a snow shoe walk through the snow-filled winter countryside.
Approximately 38 km of prepared tracks, some of which run parallel to the cross-country circuits and away from the roads, are ideal for winter walking.
Markers and signposts
The winter walking tracks are marked in pink and signposted. Since in winter conditions can change on an almost hourly basis, the timings given are more generous than the summer equivalents. And, just as at other times of the year, winter walking is undertaken entirely at your own risk!
Tobogganing
Fun is just around the corner: try out the snow tubing run or the Grunholz toboggan lift with a length of over 600 metres.
